I am pleased with the redesign of the product containers, specifically the one for the developer. The old one was NOT big enough to adequately mix the product when you added the color. This time it was so much easier. I used to have to dump it into a container and mix by hand to get it to blend properly. This time I did not. As for the rest of the update, as long as the product works well I don't care what color or design the print materials are!

The packaging was so cute with stickers to pin up the instructions and my name all over the place. The hair color was very easy to use and EXACTLY the shade I was looking for. But it only lasted about 2 days. I didn’t wash it for the first 48 hours to be safe, then the first wash with color safe products, I was a strawberry blonde again. I was so in love with the color but somehow it faded faster than drugstore color? I’m not sure if it was something I did or maybe with blonde to red I just really needed to get some in between toner or something to help keep the color fresh. I know this could be my fav color ever though, that’s why I still gave it 4 stars.

Great customer service, great color. It has lasted really well, and never got brassy or faded looking. Have to say I feel like your new graphic designer has led you astray-- too many fonts, too many colors, layout is boring, there's nothing eyecatching. I thought I had been misdirected to a cheap generic knockoff of esalon on at first. I liked the wit of the old names. Your old look was much fresher and more hip. But as long as your customer service and product don't change, I'll be a devoted customer! Thanks!

i think you have auccessfully neutralized the red undertones in my hair so that i can one day get a true “darkest brown” — i do not want black though, or blue-black, but definitely darkest brown. now that it is neutralized, perhaps this batch won’t need the neutralizer, just in case it over-neutralizes to like green or something : )

The Best Hair Dye I've Ever Used

Having been a "boxed hair dye" user for a year or two, I noticed it didn't last long even though it was "permanent" and the color never seemed to apply evenly. After never finding what I needed (the color, the permanency, the even application, the shine, etc.), I went to a stylist to have all the previous color removed and have it re-dyed at the hands of a professional. What I got in return was almost black hair when I wanted my natural medium brown (aka light brown in dye).
So, on my own, I removed all the color and let my hair "do-it's thing" for a few weeks. Once everything calmed down, I decided to give eSalon a try. I am so happy I did and I wish I had found them so much sooner!
Not only is the hair color true to what I was seeking, but it is also long-lasting. It doesn't seem to cause damage to my hair and the recovery products (shampoo and conditioner) that come in the package restore it to a silky-smoothness that I haven't felt in years!
This dye goes only where you put it. When you wash your hair out, it doesn't bleed out onto the towel -- I have white towels and they are still fresh and bright! I have a decent amount of gray hair in the front and underside on my hair, and this dye covers better than anything I've ever used (even from the "professional" salon).
I would recommend this dye to anyone and have been! It's a game changer.

I'm really happy with this product, particularly the coverage at the roots. No more really light roots versus dark ends!! My only complaint is the fumes when putting on the watered down colour in the final step, it was over powering in the shower.

I really like the color and how it covers my grey. I don't like the texture/feel of the product. It takes forever to rinse out. But it works very well, so that's worth the extra time of washing and rinsing after the first use.

I love the ease of having it shipped to me and the colors are fantastic. I wish that the product did not have ammonia in it. I color my hair often because of my greys and ammonia drys the hair out eventually.

Pros- at home, way cheaper than a salon but salon quality. Last longer and looks more natural than retail box products. Doesn't seem to damage my hair as much either.
Cons-it is very waxy. Hard to get out of your hair even after the 5 mins of using wet gloves to work it into your hair at the end. I find I have to wash it really good a few times. Not sure what is it, that does that.

I really love this hair care color line. This time my color was a little more red than usual even though I know they said the product itself did not change. And I really prefer the old packaging. The new packaging seems generic in appearance.

I don't know how they did it, but they covered my grays and got all my hair the same color (but still natural looking with dimension). The reason I'm so surprised is because my hair length reaches the tip of my tailbone, so I figured porosity issues would be inevitable and I'd end up with darker ends (which has happened with box color and salons and resulted in my having to cut off a significant amount of hair and then not chance dying it again for years), but no they somehow got it perfect with their personalized formulation and directions! It was fast, easy, and exactly the color I was shooting for. eSalon did better than +95% of the salon haircolor experiences I've had (and those cost me over $400)

When I received my latest order today, I noticed that the packaging was crushed on one corner. I opened the box and saw that some of the developer had come out of the bottle. The cap was loose and I think that when that corner of the box was crushed it might have squeezed the conditioner out onto the packaging. There is very little conditioner left in the bottle. Would you please send a replacement bottle of conditioner.....Thank you

love the color, but the gray at my temples and sides of my face shows through after 2 wks while the rest of my hair stays with good color for 4-6 wks.
** as a post-review, many months later and many applications later - your color doesn't hold as long as it did when I first started using it even though I am leabing it on for 45 minutes when I color. It's gone from 8 wks coverage to maybe 4, if I'm lucky. And it always goes gray at my temples maybe 2 wks after using it. I will have to look for another supplier if this continues.

The color actually turns out as advertised. (I was scared that it wouldn't since there were many reviews that said the color wasn't what they were expecting). However, with my own custom blend, I found it really hard to get it to stick to my hair. I also found that is has almost completely washed off (only been about 2 weeks) and it was the permanent option. After washing off the product your hair also turns really sticky as others have noted, but it dried fine.

I ordered my box of hair color in February, and just now (mid- April) was brave enough to do it. I was really intimidated, because its been awhile since I colored my hair, and the last time I colored my hair (with a store-bought box color), my grays stayed covered for only a short time before the color completely disappeared. I don't think I will have that problem with this color. It COMPLETELY covered my grey, looks natural and I'm very happy with it. The only downside is, I'm mad at myself for waiting so long to use it! Thanks!

received my colour excellent value for money colour is lovely. However I did find that the shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling slimmy and once dry crispy. Had to wash it again but colour is brilliant and so is the kit would buy again

My hair is a brassy cooper color now. My complaint is a sent questions asking for help in how to fix it since I had an event to go to. I received a generic response and no help. I rather pay a SALON and get the results I want. The golden brown hair I had!!!!!

I bought my custom color to cover a few grays in my roots. The color just match perfectly my natural color and for now has no red at all. I enjoyed the process but the mess came when I used the classic conditioner; it left my hair so sticky they wouldn’t dry, so I had to wash my hair again and once more after that. Anyway I’m very happy with the color.

I love that everything you need is in one box to color your hair.
However, this is the first time using the system and results were OK
It did not cover my gray, or completely cover my highlights.
Not covering all of the highlights were OK with me, but was hoping it would cover the gray.
I will admit to not leaving it on for the whole processing time. I cut it short by 5 min. to keep some of the highlights.

I have been coloring my hair for the past 12 years but only because of my gray hair, so I'm just trying to match up the color. I started with a box color from the grocery store,... good for about 3 weeks before it fades and the gray show through. I have also been to my stylist for color, which lasts forever, but he never gets the color right which is very frustrating and very expensive. I thought I'd give eSalon a try when several of my friends posted it on facebook. The box came and had everything I needed, great instructions, and was very easy to use. However, it didn't seem to color my gray all that well. Later, when they asked me for my feed back I told them that, and they discussed it with me, made me a new formula and directions and sent it to me completely free of charge. After using it and following the new directions, it was the perfect color and completely covered all of my grays beautifully! I am definitely going to continue to use eSalon, and would highly recommend it to anyone who currently colors their hair!

This color lightened my roots perfectly. And as always, the kit was so easy to use and had great directions. My only issue was that my color ended up very brassy. I’ve been counteracting it with purple shampoo, but hopefully next time will be less brassy.

I have had bad in salon experiences. The color isn’t even close to what I want. eSalon works hard to make the color you want. Also good to get all the supplies. The only thing I don’t like is the oily texture I have for a few days after coloring. So I have to strip my hair with a shampoo, and lose some color.

I've been a customer for several months and the quality of the hair color is great. It's superior to typical dyes that you can get from beauty supply stores to drug stores. The tricky part is color adjustment -- its taking me a few months to determine how to achieve the shade of light ash brown with no red highlights that I want to achieve in my hair color. It takes a lot of patience and trust to keep adjusting the color as we go. So far, the color team is working to adjust my color at my request and its very gradual. Its tricky to go from red undertones (from dyes) to the blond/light brown ash undertones in the color that I seek after years of store bought dye (done over years of high end salon dyes). E salon is making it a good experience always by communicating, listening to my needs and adjusting the ash and color as we go so I can gradually achieve the shade I want. The time it takes to get to my color if we get there is the only reason why I didn't rate it a "5" yet... Thanks

I love the color, dark blonde (pearl), however, the ammonia was very strong and actually left my scalp feeling irritated. Hopefully I can get the same shade in a demi permanent formula for my new growth in 8 weeks. High shine.

Remarkably easy to use, even when going solo! Easy to follow instructions and left my hair looking and feeling great. The only downsides were that the smell is quite strong during the process and that the size of the text was quite tricky to read once I’d got my glasses off!

I’m a retired hairdresser that colors her hair at home. For me to buy professional hair color is a waste of product and money. Even the smallest packages expire before I can use it. And to buy over the counter is limited to color selection. I would have to buy 2-3 boxes to achieve the same color results eSalon sends me. I’ve been using eSalon hair color for several applications now and I’m very pleased with the constant results.

First impression, very impressed with how for the first time ever I have found a hair colour which has covered all my greys. Love the colour as well, but was a bit too dark so may be will go one touch lighter for my next order. And only downside for me is that it took forever to wash off, I have long hair so by the end of it, my arms were aching and the sampoo that comes with the package is no way near enough for my hair. The real test now is to see how long it will lasts!!

went back to esalon color because I moved too far from the lady who was doing my color. thought I asked about changing my color before they sent my order but that didn't happen. Gave the color a try anyway. It was too light for my liking. My colorist has updated my formula and I hope I will be happy with it. I gave it a 4 star because I really don't like doing the color myself but until I find someone to do it for me I will use esalon.

I loved the color prepared for me at 1st. The second time I didn't receive the second bottle of color and the color came out way to dark. I need the color lighting up bottle of color too or need to go lighter a couple of shades.

This was my first order and I was a bit scared, as I am just starting to color my own hair after my hairdresser retired. My sister uses e-salon, so she told me to try it. I have red hair which isn't easy to color right. I filled out the form and then my stylist told me via email that she changed the formula to what she thinks would match what I had (I did include a picture and would recommend anyone do that if you want a good color match). I was terrified as I didn't want to look like Bozo the Clown, but the color match was perfect. Seriously, perfect! I'm about to color my own hair for the second time this week but now feel like a pro and am no longer scared! I'd definitely recommend it.

Your colour is the best! The only complaint is the single use packages for shampoo and conditioner are ridiculously hard to open. I had to get out of the shower and go to the kitchen for scissors since I couldn’t open with hands or teeth.

Over the years I've tried everything to get that "perfect" color. Salons professionals galore, boxed kits, tweaking my own color from beauty supply companies. You name it. My color has always been "almost, but not quite" or "not even in the ball park" of what I want.
Not this time. E-Salon NAILED it. I have a rich, auburn color that looks beautiful and natural. No one who doesn't know me thinks its colored. Right out of the box, it was exactly what I wanted.
The process was a breeze, ordering and tweaking the color was painless. And I know if I hadn't been happy with my results, they would have fixed it for me. I have recommend e-salon to everyone I know. My partner and my sister in law will be purchasing it for their next color sessions.

I love the color and the consistency.
I have one complaint. I do not like the new container with the color - the mouth is too wide making it nearly impossible to pour into the squeeze bottle without making a mess. Also the size and texture made it very difficult to open.

When I requested a slight change in the color, I was looking for warm auburn, but the dye indicated mahogany and copper. I was a little concerned about that. I wanted a warmer softer color than it turned out to be. So I was a little disappointed.

I usually use Med Brown, I’m pretty happy with the results however I think I didn’t leave it on long enough in the ends. I was worried it would be too dark and rinsed it after 4-5 minutes. I would adjust it and leave it on a little longer next time because I still see more red tones than I’d like.

My hair has been through it s fair amount of changes through the years, and ultimately I have decided 6 months ago to cut it to a short-medium size as my ends and actually 70% of it was long, but so unhealthy and useless. It was bad...very bad. I have waited 6 months as I thought my natural hair will start to grow, and I ll never dye it again, but something was still off, because my natural hair color is bright hazelnut of something similar, and the rest was...well, redish, yellowish, orangeish...something. It was annoying especially because I know how much time it will take untill my natural hair will grow significantly. So i have found eSalon. I was not so scared, but I did not know what exactly I should expect. I m verry happy with my result, both color and quality of my hair after using it. They understood what I want and delivered nothing less, nothing more than I asked them for. I will DEFINITELY use it again. It will probably remain the only hair dye I ll use from now on, even if I ll want to change my color again or stay the same. The shampoo, conditioner and actually the whole kit was much more than I expected. Really good products, very nice smell, and overall I would surely buy everything from my hair from them. 100/10. Really good job, guys!

Easy to use only downside is the packet of shampoo and conditioner is too small for all my hair and to rinse out all color I end up using my own product.

Requested changes made as asked. Much better grey coverage. However, color still more strawberry blonde rather than medium beige blond. Anticipating it to become brassy as it has previously.

I thought the product was great when I used it, it matched my hair perfectly. The directions were helpful, more so than normal box dyes. I also feel like it was more natural than the box dye I usually buy, it didn’t smell so strongly of chemicals. I was very happy with the product until a few weeks (3) went by and it seemed to have completely faded. I can see all of my grays again. Usually when I dye my hair it lasts at least 8 weeks or so. I can’t decide if I will buy again as it really doesn’t seem to last as long as I would like.

The instructions could not make the application easier, and they are written so anyone can easily do it! I would only request that a new applicator brush be put into each kit!

I tried this for the first time, as I was tired of how my texture of my hair was getting with box dye. While the smell was much better than store bought, the coverage was not great. I followed directions to the T, but i guess my hair is resistant to the type of coloring that they use. With it being double the price of store bought, I expected better coverage. I was definitely disheartened when I dried my hair. Customer service contacted me quickly, and they're working on correcting the issue with my hair.

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong because I find the shampoo doesn't remove the dye. It feels greasy for a while and I can run out of hot water. The coverage is great. Perhaps not quite the purple I'd ideally want but it's close.

I have always shopped for bargains and hair colour products which are £5 and under so even with the half price offer for the first hair colour (£14.95) this was way above what I usually pay. I was curious about this 'supposedly' being customised to the individual and expected to be disappointed. I had already decided I wouldn't be subscribing as it was far too expensive, but, I was so taken by my first Hair Colour that, despite it being way, way above what I normally pay, I went for the full price next order. I love the colour it gives me so I am prepared to cut back in other areas to allow me to continue to receive this product.
When it is applied it feels really strange and I have more than once had the thought that it feels like it might be detrimental to my hair health and yet, the result is great and draws comments about how great my hair colour is. And it gives me the exact coppery highlights/colour that I've been seeking.

I got my custom color in yesterday. Before I used it, I read some of the reviews. I was kind of scared to try it. I opened up my package today and read the instructions, and then kind of stared at the product for a while. I used to go to the Salon, but I'm on disability and can no longer afford that luxury. I was coloring with store bought boxed color, but it never ever came out the color I wanted, and would put my hair in a ponytail under a hat. I was so discouraged, until NOW!!!! I prepped, I colored, and omg, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair!! It turned out just like I had gone and spent $100.00 on my hair!! The color is perfect, my hair is so healthy looking. I cannot say enough about my custom color and esalon!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The only other thing is next time, I'm going to order the highlights with the color!! I keep looking in the mirror, because I still can't believe how much I love my hair! Covered every single gray!!! You have one very satisfied customer!!!

I loved this colour but did find I got in more of a mess than usual applying the colour, I really needed two pairs of gloves because of the two applications, roots and ends. My grey didn't take as well as I hoped but I'm trying a shade darker to see if that helps.

I have quite a few stubborn grays. I find that this hair color works well to cover them up, but over time, the color fades and the grays grow out. Due to my own preference, I do not recolor my hair as often as I should to keep my grays covered.

Didn't cover my greys as well as I hoped, but I'll have to go to the salon for that and use this in between, just don't want to over do it, as I'm not sure how often I should be coloring.

I love my newest color - well done! However, after thinking I had applied enough of the color to my roots first like the directions stated and then pulling it out to the ends, I found that it didn't fully cover some of my grays at the root. Perhaps this should be chalked up to user error, but I thought I had covered all areas well enough.
