I really enjoyed the product, I thought it was easy to use. My only complaint is the colors that were available for me to choose ended up being too dark. Luckily, I am able to choose a lighter color with my next order.

Three times now... first two times I couldn’t be happier! Great color and easy to do. This third time I just completed two weeks ago, I got very poor gray coverage. Looks like I need to do my roots still. I’m not pleased this time.

After my first color I left a review that I really liked the color however, I really wanted a touch more red. I did not want the overall base tone any darker though. I received a message that my color was adjusted. I received my order a few days ago and did my hair today. I have added a picture to my account to show you the color. The color is not a bad color but the overall base tone is much darker that what I had last time and is much darker than what I like. There is some red but doesn't seem to be more that what I had the last time. Maybe the base tone is so much darker that you just don't see the red, I don't know. I'm not really sure what to ask for the next time, but I don't want what I got this time. Occasionally I might go a little darker for winter but we are getting into spring and summer and it is just way too dark.

Does not fade like the color at the store and conveniently delivers with complete instructions. If I want to change the shade a little, the stylists are so helpful. My experience has been 5 stars!

The smell of the dye while applying is strong like most cheap box dye from store, but after washing out, no more smell lingers and the color and texture are very nice. I can tolerate the smell for the result.

By the third iteration I had gotten the most natural ever so slightly golden blond color that matched my non gray hair and covered the grey. Hair looked like it did 30 years ago. Didn’t get the 18 to 21 shampoos though more like 14 before noticeably faded even though used good colorsafe shampoo

Though the color was 100% right on, the gray coverage was a total flop the first time around. Even though I told them I have hard to color grays. So we will see the second time around.

Last month my hair color was really thick and a lot more red in it. It was so thick I had to take the cap off it to get it out. That was hard to do also because it was thick, My color is the Brown and Violet. I love what I have been getting in the pass

I like the process of this product. Getting a custom dye for my hair sounds great! The smell wasn’t that bad. The color is good. But the steps to dye my hair was too much. I’ve never died the roots, wait 15min then dye the rest. That was odd.

My hair has been dyed red for years. Havent seen my natural hair color in over a decade except what shows at the roots. This came close to my natural haircolor except the red is still coming through the medium brown. A little disappointed that I still see red in my hair. But I guess it will take a few times before it finally disappears. Love how it doesnt fry my already thin and frizzy hair. Actually made my hair softer

Color was good. The place in the process where you are in the shower and add whats left in bottle to hair and massage into your hair, the smell was so strong I had to open the shower door and my eyes were burning throughout the entire time I was in the shower. Not sure I want to do it again.

this product gave my hair multi demintions and tones that didn’t make it look like it came from a box and a hair stylist did it for me. It’s fantastic! But honestly it took foreverrr to get it out I washed my hair like more than 3 times and I could still feel the hair dye texture in there, now it’s out and I really love the results!

Finally got the nerve to try my eSalon color today! I received my own color a couple of weeks ago but was scared to try it as this would be my first time doing my color at home, but I was tired of paying Salon prices so gave it a try. I am so glad I did, it was a little awkward to do for me but I managed and my color came out just as I had hoped, may be a little darker than i thought it as the color in the bottle seemed way too light for me but the color was very close to my current color, I imagine over the next week or so it will lighten some but if it doesn't I'm still satisfied with the color. If in doubt give it a try you will not be disappointed. I will continue to color my hair at home and save quite a bit of money! I may even try some highlights in the future, who knows!

So I sent in my picture (terrible picture with my hair up) wanting a medium blonde to lighten my hair. I’m naturally a dark blonde/light brown. Bradley contacted me by email and stated that based on the picture, my hair color wouldn’t go well to medium blonde. So I agreed to do one color less than what he believed was my natural color. Mind you, I should have sent a better photo that really showed my hair color. Any ways, I get my package and see it says “medium brown”. I was a bit upset as it wasn’t close to what I wanted. I set the box aside for 3 days while deciding what to do. So today I said “whatever” and decided to go for it - it’s only fair, right???
Well let me tell you, aside from the strong smell (be in a well ventilated room), it was super easy to apply. It did not burn or sting at all, which was nice. And the sticker to hang up your directions was awesome!!!
After following all the steps, washing my hair, then drying it, I was shocked. I absolutely LOVE the color!!! I like the depth and richness of the color!
I will absolutely continue to use this brand and the color to maintain this new hair color!

While the color was fantastic after applied. It seems to fade very quickly. I understand that color with lots of red in it does not stand up as well as other colors, this one faded noticeably within just 2 weeks.

with the next order could you make it a bit lighter? as my hair naturally lightens in the sun and seeing the next shipment is not till the end of May I am going to be out in the sun a lot so as I said it will lighten

I have a complaint!
I got my order just a few days ago and I am so dissapointed with it, let me tell you why!
Last night I followed the directions to the T, and the final results are terrible! My hair is too dark! I only did the roots as directed, and gosh, my hair doesn't look good at all because the color shade you sent me did NOT MATCH my hair color at all. I had just changed my hair color from dark to light, now the roots are dark, with the highlights, and I do not know why I was sent such a dark color for the roots ONLY! I'm not happy with the results!

The product is okay, but doesn't seem better than a box kit from the store. The thing I do like is that it is a color created for me, so it is a better match with my skin tones. My hair grows fast and shows my grey after one week or a little more. Not sure how to remedy this.

The color came out exactly the way I wanted. And while it smelled very much like ammonia it turned out great. My hair is soft and has more body than with any over the counter stuff I have used before. It took me 4 weeks to get up the nerve to use it. I'm sorry I waited.

The color is Now is RED . Please correct error and send me the correct color FREE. This was your change. I received, 2 identical vials which I used about 2-3 weeks apart as directed to use to cover my roots. I Now look like I am in a rock band in the 80's.

Loved the first order, it had blonde highlights in it with the red I ordered. I do not get it with other orders though, I wish it came the same way each time.
However I do not need one every month, I still have not opened the one just sent, and you are sending me another. I would appreciate if you would ask me first before sending and it charges out of my account. I do not need a monthly coloring.

I loved my color and kit. The application kit was very easy to use. I am 3 weeks out from coloring it and now have faded roots that are near orange and dark ends. I am so disappointed the beautiful mahogany did not stay.

I just have not had time til today to color my hair. It is about time for another set to be sent!! I like the way my hair feels, and especially liked the fact that i could wash my hair right as soon as i colored it. I will order again, but will delay my shipment a bit.

The color covered all the grey and stayed true for over a month. Other than being a shade darker than I expected, I was happy with it.
The only problem I had was it made my hair feel "plastic", like baby doll hair. I had done the color myself at home so that probably affected how it turned out.
The kit included everything needed and was easy to understand and use. Overall this is a good product but for now I'm going back to a professional for the color adjustment.
I will use this again for root touch up but not overall color since there's no way to tell how it will interact with previous color products.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone just starting to color their own hair. It's lasts longer than drug store boxed mixes, you get good directions and everything you need and there's no guesswork about the amounts of color/developer to mix.

I loved the richness of the color and the whole experience from receiving the kit to opening it to using it. The dye does have a strong smell but I am used to other professional lines having that kind of smell also. I discontinued my plan only because I wanted to go lighter than my natural color. This is not possible with only dye because my hair was previously dyed. I will need to bleach it first to remove the dye I have now before applying the new lighter color I want. I will reconsider joining eSalon's monthly plan once I have achieved my desired color. eSalon is perfect for those who don't want to stir away from their current color and just cover greys, or want to slightly change the tone of it (warmer, ashier, etc) or for those who want to go darker.

I am editing this review, I will leave the original below. As frustrating as this has been to have these issues for the second time in recent months, I have to say that eSalons has reached out and is trying their best to resolve this me for. Unfortunately it will probably not be resolved before my trip, but I haven't given up complete hope yet...) eSalons is making every effort they can to get this here in as short of time as possible and they did come up with a suggestion that will help with any future delivery issues.
Original: I have been a client for MANY years and for the most part have had very few issues, but over the last year this is the second time that the delivery has been a major issue. My order was processed on the 4th and shipped on the 5th, but as of today, the 12th (after the mail has arrived) I am still waiting on my order. I had pushed the date up a few days to the 4th so that I could guarantee that I had my order before we left for a trip this coming Friday. However, that is now looking unlikely. I called customer service earlier today only to get NO help and mostly the attitude that she did not care and there was nothing that can be done. I am already upset about the progressivly declining service but this will definitely be my last order if I end up having to go on this trip without have my hair done because you can not figure out how to get a product to a client in over a week now and offer no help to the problem. Too bad your interest is in trying to get customers, not keep a loyal one!

My base color came out a little too dark with just a hint of mahogany red. Although I did not get the desired results, I will continue to use the service and trust the hair color experts of eSalon for my hair color needs.

It was darker than what I thought "beige" would be, but I guess it will fade. I think I would do highlights next time because it looks too fake all dark brown. My opinion.

I purchased my first color selection and it was not that great covering my grays. Color was uneven. I decided to give feedback and colorist put a new formulation together that was much better! Very cool having the ability to talk about my color issues just like you would a brick and mortar salon.

Very happy with the color, it did cover my greys. just did it last night and hoping it will last for awhile. I found the product runny and was not happ.y with the brush quality but all in all pretty happy so far

The product instructions dont really allow for enough time to fully penetrate the ends. I followed the instructions and i now have super dark roots and ends that are significantly lighter. Also i feel like the color is much darker then the example i picked out.
Update:
Within a day Karen from the service team contacted me with a solution and were extremely open to my opinion. I feel like my issue will be fixed and esalon will be be my present and future solution for my hair coloring needs. Thank you again.

I've always had trouble using box dye as my roots and my ends are always a different color. Sometimes getting significantly hot roots. I almost gave up dying at home completely even though i would love to cover the gray i'm getting at only 26 years old near my temples. I was worried when i read the instructions because i'm basically blind without my glasses and always thought dying roots by themselves would be a nightmare and when i read that the end dye was supposed to be up against but to try not to overlap i honestly was prepared to go get a box of medium brown temp die just in case things went south. Needless to say the process wasn't as bad as i was prepared for it to be and i feel confident i could do it again. The whole thing took about an hour and 15 minutes or so from start to blow dried hair. The color i got was pretty however not exactly as i was hoping ( i was hoping for a lot more copper, which i will add adjustment notes after a week to give things time to lighten up a bit as dye sometimes likes to do) however it was a lot more uniform which i was so pleased to see. I didn't have high hopes because my hair was almost 3 different tones starting off with (about 4 months of virgin hair roots, 4 or so months of roots where color remover was applied but never dyed, and then the rest of the length to the middle of my back was pre dyed hair after a color remover treatment with dye not reapplied). It wasn't exactly what i selected as my ends are still a tad bit darker but it looks natural which is what i wanted and my gray around my temples were covered beautifully. So far i'm very happy and my hair feels amazing after. I'm excited to see if the next application will get me to my goal of a beautiful Irish like medium light red copper brown.

Tried my first time w/Esalon. I dye my own hair. #1, the odor of amonia was very strong (choking strong). I found this to be odd considering store bought brands don't have such an odor. The color was precise & covered my grey. #2, I then thought with the shipping & purchase costs, it was way higher than what i normally spend. I can purchase dye for $5 when i do it myself. So, why do i want to spend up to $30? When i called to cancel my membership the gal i spoke to was very nice, understanding & professional. She offered me one free shipment in a different shade to try once more. Will be delivered soon. I do not believe i will continue with my membership merely for the cost. It also dried the heck out of my hair. Perhaps it is just the type of hair i have bcuz my hair is dry to begin with. However, their Customer Service is wonderful! I would recommend eSalon for people who regularly have their hair professionally dyed. Then, you would save money. All in all, i believe it is a good product & it is great to have an automatic delivery every time you normally color your hair, but the cost with shipping is too high for me when i can color my hair for $5 getting the same results.

the color is awesome, i have only one very small tiny complaint. My hair is very very long and there was not quite enough to completely cover the hair, but the ends are still colored from the last time.. and the color matches extremely well

After 2nd try and timing adjustment, the grey coverage is better. I like the way of my hair feels so soft after coloring. The only thing that I don’t like is the color doesn’t last long which happens with over the counter hair coloring.

The order came in good time. The instructions were concise and the product easy to use. My hair was in very good condition after its use, nice and shiny, not dry like some other similar products. The end result was not as expected, I am now a lot redder than before. It took me by surprise but I am now used to it. It is not a bad colour , just not dark blond pearl. Hence 4 stars and not 5.

The mixture was a little runny and was constantly running down my face but was easy to apply and covered my greys very well. Smelt nice and left my hair feeling strong and very shiny

Loved using this color, is was so easy and didn't take hardly anytime. Only issue was I still see some small areas of gray, but I am thinking it is user error!

I have only had positive experience with this product. Only one small suggestion....thicken the formula so that it does not drip while during waiting time prior to shampoo.

The color works very well with the exception of some of the places at the back of my head that did not cover, the gray for some reason I feel that I covered it very well but it did not grab it for some reason I just have very stubborn greys.

I do like the color but still too dark. I didn’t understand why the different bottles for top and bottom. Were they different shades. Anyway if we could try. Shade lighter. I like the copper.

Can improve on packaged shampoo and conditioner

All the products themselves are fantastic but the packaging for the shampoo and conditioner needs improving. The last few times I have not been able to open the shampoo with the twist tab. The tab twists off easily but the plastic liner inside is not punctured. I have to either get out if the shower and search for scissors or chew into the lining to rip it open. A full tear strip might be a better solution on those items.

Great but wasteful packaging

I have been regular customer for four plus years and I will continue to use, my hair does very well, and it’s easy for me. My only wish is that it reduce the waste from packaging, and if it uses any silicon, to eliminate it. I do soda water cleanse on my scalp every few months but the majority of the funk removed is silicon and, it kills so much fish, microbeads are banned in Europe and I don’t want it in my products. I hope they will take on a more eco conscious approach then I will be extremely gratified and happy!

I enjoyed the rich color and the amount of color I received. The stain remover, stain guard and nicer gloves were all perks I appreciated. The only downside was the product burned my head a little (tingling) during the root application as it said to rub it in....I think it would have been fine, if I didn't rub it into my scalp.

Good color however am disappointed that I must go through 2 seperate processes to acheive coloring. Is it possible to get one color bottle instead of 2 (1st brown, 2nd red hues) as I often only do my roots (final color desired not only brown) with permanant color and then touch up my ends with a coloring hair mask?
