I’m sad to say this product did not work well for me. I am no stranger to coloring my hair at home and normally have good results with other brands so I decided to try e salon based on the reviews. Sadly e salon color did not work well for me at all. I followed every direction to the T and majority of my grays were not covered at all, and I don’t have a lot only a few that frame my face. It also left my hair three different shades of reddish brown and very splotchy. Very disappointed

The ends of my hair are ok - and came out as the ash brown/blonde i wanted, but my roots are brassy, copper orange colour :( Not impressed! and not sure how to fix this now... disappointed after waiting for a month for it to arrive.

I did not receive what I wanted, which was all over color and lighten a teeny tiny bit. I got Roots Only! So they think it's a good idea to just lighten my roots. When I contacted them about this they said that was the best way to do this so. I thought these were professional stylist??? There's also no way to respond to my stylist or the person that just sent me a message. I have to go back in and start all over again with somebody new that will get my message. I would like to get my money back even though it was only $10. Oh and the $8 brush that I got, you can get at the dollar store for $2 same quality.

Leider sind die Haare nach der Behandlung sehr trocken und spröde. Die Grauabdeckung ist gar nicht gelungen! Sehr schade!

My first order was great. The color was perfect. For some reason though this second time the color came out all wrong. I didn’t make any changes to my formula and my hair color looks terrible this time. SO DISAPPOINTED.

The color that was adjusted for me is nice but it’s been maybe two weeks and my grays are already starting to poke back through. It was also extremely difficult to wash out after application. This has never been the case before 🤷🏻♀️

Liebes eSalon-Team, Ihr hattet zweimal die Chance, meine Traumfarbe (aschblond) für mich herzustellen. Ich bin sehr enttäuscht, weil trotz angepasster Rezeptur meine Haare auch beim zweiten Mal wieder rot statt blond geworden sind. Da tut es auch eine beliebige Farbe aus der Drogerie zum günstigeren Preis. Schade, ich kann Euch nicht weiterempfehlen und kündige mit sofortiger Wirkung mein Abo.

Although I like my colour my hair feels dry and there is too much dye for my roots which is alot of waste for the price. Also the strong amonia smell put me off too.

This product is not for me. I like the color and how it looks on hair, but my scalp is in really bad condition for weeks after coloring. I really don’t like to give negative reviews, but my hair is full of flakes.

This color was not what I requested and nothing close to the color I Uploaded. I gave it a second try and I still was not happy with the outcome. The customer service was great and the packaging was phenomenal but unfortunately I have had to cancel because I am not getting the color results I was expecting.

This product was not satisfactory to me. It really did some serious damage to my hair. I will not be using it again. I did not realize that i was on a plan...so they sent me another shipment. I am cancelling this shipment going forward. I have fine hair and found the product to be damaging.

The color came out a light orange and not blonde. Maybe I should have left it in longer? Or could have used a toner to take the orange out. It horrible but not what I was hoping for.

Loved the root color, but the end color was too orange

I did a strand test of both colors just to be sure, and found that the end color was simply too dramatic for my taste. I applied the root color to my whole head instead and it turned out wonderfully! Am I able to return the end color?

Overall, not bad, but...

The good: The color match was surprisingly good given it was based on a not-so-good photo (I stink at selfies) and my best guess at matching a color swatch. Definitely more like a salon color than a drugstore box in terms of the "depth" of the color. The condition of my hair and scalp after coloring were better than after a salon color (my scalp gets "tight" feeling and itchy after a salon color but that didn't happen with this product).
The not-so-good: Grey coverage was less than stellar (especially on the parts that are close to pure white), despite processing for the full 30 minutes and "emulsifying" in the shower as directed. It's possible that was the fault of the application (there was an awful lot of product left over, could be it wasn't mixed or applied correctly) or that something can be tweaked to make it cover the grey better. I also didn't find it terribly easy to apply by myself (got dizzy and nauseated working backwards in the mirror) and ended up asking my husband to finish it for me.
Bottom line: A better-than-expected stopgap until the salons are open again, which I'll use again if that doesn't happen before I need a retouch. Thanks for enabling me to go to the grocery store without a hat!

I absolutely loved the package and how the products are presented. I feel like there should be three pairs of gloves provided since there was 3 different steps but the gloves were good quality! Sadly my color did not turn out nearly as dark as the soft black (intense pearl) that I ordered and my roots turned out even lighter than the rest :(

I’m a natural redhead with some grays. Months ago I had my hair colored darker with some dark red highlights. I chose the copper red color for my hair, explained I wanted the highlights gone and sent a pic of my hair. Now most of my hair is clown red, with brownish roots and an orange colour where the highlights were. This is so much worse than it was before I really don’t want to go out in public. It looks ridiculous!

I received my first order from ESalon-did not cover gray and what did cover turned brown hair blond! Esalon said I should throw entire contents out and would send me a new order.
New order received-did NOT cover the gray and little that did turned red--back to zero. Told to throw it all out and they would gladly send new order with directions to keep dye on longer. New order arrived with NO brush! When I called to inquire, they said they don't supply brushes! And, are out of brushes. Terrible service.

Ich habe mir die Farbe ganz anders vorgestellt, ich bin überhaupt nicht zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis. Es ist viel zu rot und die Farbe von meinem Ansatz ist komplett anders als die Farbe in meinen Längen und das sieht einfach nicht schön aus.
Meine Farbe wurde geändert, da geschrieben wurde meine ausgewählte Farbe wäre zu dunkel. Ich habe mich darauf eingelassen und eine andere Farbe zugeschickt bekommen. Das hätte ich nicht machen sollen. Ich habe eine knallrote Farbe in meinen Längen und ich wollte eigentlich nur einen kupferton haben.

Ordeted light brown, came out almost black on strand test. Called to adjust sent me dark blonde. That was the darkest brown and dull. I need very lite brown base to go with full head golden highlighted previously had. Very short hair. Ido not get it. Thank God did a strand test.

Ich habe am 2.4. wegen Corona eine Farbe bestellt, um mir über die Krise zu helfen, bis der Friseur wieder aufsperrt. Nach einer Woche kam ein mail: Kurze Verzögerung der Lieferzeit. Nach 2 Wochen habe ich nachgefragt, und betont, dass ich es nicht mehr brauche, wenn es nicht bald geliefert wird. Mir wurde gesagt, es wurde bereits versandt! Nach 3 Wochen habe ich wieder nachgefragt, es hieß, dass mein Paket als ausgeliefert registriert ist. Ich habe das Paket am 29. April nachmittag -also 4 Wochen nach Bestellung erhalten!!!! Ich brauche es nicht mehr - der Friseur sperrt am 2. Mai wieder auf!

Beautifully packaged. Love the custization. Love the check ins from my stylist.
The actual product didn't cover my grays all the way. After just 2 weeks the color is fading and you can see that shimmer of gray coming through.....

Already showing grey at hairline after 4 days and no washing

This was my first try with eSalon. The kit was nice and arrived on time. The instructions and tools were good. However, when my hair dried after applying the color and washing it, the color was too light to match my natural roots. So the colorist should have looked at the photos I sent and adjusted the color to be darker to match my roots. Also, it's only 4 days since I applied the color and I haven't washed my hair, but grey is already appearing at my temple. I'm having to spray Root Magic on the temple area to cover the grey. This is disappointing because I thought your color formulas were made to cover grey and last for weeks.

Definitely expensive for what you get.
I didn't see any difference from box colors honestly 😟
Also, not much attention to detail, considering they sent me two shampoos and no conditioner 🙄
The instructions are alright, but too much packaging.
The color didn't come up very bright or "natural" looking as the ads were showing.

This is a golden orangey brown, not the colour I wanted at all which was a medium Ash blonde, really disappointed as it was expensive at £23. Has faded a bit over a week but looks like a bad dye job with orangey tones

Not a “custom” color set

I ordered the product with the understanding that I could customize the color. When I asked my stylist to do this, I was told they would be sending me one of their premixed color options. As predicted, the color was not what I wanted. I know these are crazy times and perhaps you are unable to make custom formulas currently, but you should state that. Advertising the formula as customizable is deceitful and should be changed if you are unable to do so currently.

Disappointed but eSalon is Listening

When completing my initial information in April 2020, I documented on the forms that I have very resistant extremely hard to color 100 % gray hair & a very sensitive scalp. I explained that prior to COVID 19 I had been going to the salon every 4 weeks to get my roots colored for many, many years. I documented on forms that several products that salon(s) used over the years caused my scalp to burn and or hurt. I wrote the brand of the color product that the salon used to color my hair successfully for years. I sent a picture in from my last color & another of my favorite color with highlights from 6 months ago. I called eSalon & explained all of my hair color challenges. After being assigned a colorist, I sent a few emails explaining my challenges and requested that he review the information I submitted to eSalon. My colorist & I spoke as well. We discussed my needs. He is very knowledgeable. I watched the "how to videos" he recommended. He is always willing to answer my questions. Since this was my first time coloring, it took longer. My husband assisted me. I was thrilled that my scalp did not burn. I thought everything was good until day 7 when I washed I hair with my sulfate free products in effort to preserve my color. Immediately, I noticed quite a bit of my gray coming through. Today is day 12 after coloring my roots. Today, I washed my hair for only the 2nd time since coloring my roots. Now you can't even tell that my roots were recently colored. My gray roots are completely showing all over my entire head. I contacted eSalon this afternoon to speak with my colorist. Adjustments will be made to my next color to hopefully make it last longer & cover my gray much better. I forewarned eSalon staff about my issues with color orally as well as in written form in effort to avoid these exact issues. I am disappointed in how my color turned out. However, I do feel like the eSalon colorist listened to me today.

I’m truly sad my hair didn’t come out the way I had hoped color wise. It DID come out a pretty color however, and the product, smell, packaging, instructions are awesome! I normally go to my stylist but couldn’t due to stay at home orders. Unfortunately I think I will have to wait and go back to her to tweak it in person.

I colored my roots left the product on for 30 minutes didn't want it longer in my hair . As I was rinsing out the color it was a formula of mush I can't describe it I was washing out the color like 15 minutes in the shower finally . This is also the reason I stopped my purchase.

I cancelled the order as soon as I received notice of shipping because I did not like the colour.
Even though the product was not shipped and I did not received it , I only got a partial refund of what they charged me.

I absolutely love the color! However after 2 days I washed my hair for the first time with the shampoo included in the kit and the color immediately came off the gray hair. I was so disappointed! I left the color on for 30 mins as the instructions stated. I would love to have the same color next time but with better coverage of my gray’s (the only reason I dye my hair in the first place).

I have lots of grey, which are now very RED. Rest of my hair is dark brown now with a red tone. TOTALLY NOT what i was looking for.

Aloha,
I was happy that the color covered my grays, but i think the color overall was too dark. I expected some kind of golden brown that would lift some color from my dark hair. The shampoo smells great lots of lather, sorry not happy with the conditoner. After blow drying, my hair felt dry, no shine. But overall my whites were gone and I love the package has everything.

I dyed my hair before doing this from a black to a dark brown. I ordered the violet/brown. In the picture, it showed purple. When mixing the solution with the developer, it was purple. Somebody please explain how my hair turned to black! I followed the directions to the tea, and it made my hair darker with no color tint at all. #Terrible

I liked the color for the first week. I was disappointed that it start to fade after one week. I was
also expecting the volume to last longer than it did. I use a high quality salon shampoo, so I know
that the shampoo was not the reason it did not last.

Not entirely happy with the colour after following instructions to the last letter. It has faded quite a bit and is now a bright ginger, my highlights are also coming through. I would like the colour to be a reddish brown and richer, which is how the picture looked on the screen. The condition is okay so far but I only coloured it 4 days ago.

La couleur obtenue est bien similaire à la couleur de fond de la chevelure, mais les racines ressortent encore en reflet blanc. Je l'ai pourtant appliquée avec soin au pinceau, raie par raie, et ai bien attendu les 30mn de pause pour émulsionner et rincer.

Leider ist die Farbe so extrem scharf im Geruch, dass das Färben keine Freude war. Das Ergebnis ist auch nur so mittel. Am schlimmsten jedoch finde ich, dass die esalon mich in eine Abofalle gelockt hat. Das geht absolut gar nicht!!!!!

The colour is great, but the grey coverage is very poor and after only two washes it’s faded markedly on the grey. I followed the instructions to the letter. A shame as I had high hopes.

I carefully chose a color for my completely gray hair. The warm honey brown I chose made my hair RED. At least the hair it actually covered was red...there was a lot of gray left over. eSalon kindly sent me another color to cover the red, and the box said "light brown." I now have DARK brown with a MAROON glow. I look awful.
The only positive is that the eSalon product DID greatly improve the feel and body of my wayward grayness, so I am happy for that, but I won't be using the product anymore due to the weird color results.

Bonjour, J'ai fait la couleur reçue,assez tard. Ceci dit, je pensais avoir la teinte que je désirais, mais celle ci est beaucoup trop marron, j'aurais préféré qu'elle soit un peu plus cuivré, voir légèrement rouge...je me contenterais de celle là pour le moment...

The process of applying was a breeze and the kit contains everything you need to colour your hair. Sadly I asked for a cool/neutral shade of brown with no red or golden tones. The result is extremely red/golden so it's not what I asked for. My hair feels pretty healthy and the colour is vibrant but it's much warmer than I asked for. Great service but not really thrilled with the end result.

I was excited to try this custom hair color at home since not being able to get to my hairdresser. Product arrived with easy to follow directions, but the gray coverage was terrible, did not cover at all. I specified in my profile that I had hard to cover grays, Very dissappointed with this product.

I ordered a light brown ash color. What I got was a medium cinnamon brown. The results I got were nice, but not what I wanted. I have been able to achieve the ash brown I was going for more successfully with drugstore box color. The fact that I can't look at a color chart after ordering makes me think that the stylist formulate the color how they want to and not to the liking of the client.
The kit was nice though. I do feel I got most of the items I needed in order to color my hair with minimal mess and full coverage.

I had been a beautiful redhead for 20 years. This color turned my roots/hair way darker. My original photos showed how ginger/Irish/copper red I was, now it's a full dark Auburn/ almost brown color. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I used the eSalon hair color on my gray roots following all instructions and the suggested time needed to cover and match hair color. The temples did not color and a few areas on front top of head did not take the color. Not sure what happened since my gray roots were totally saturated with dye and I let it sit for the whole time. I gave it a 3 star rating bc the color IS nice -just disappointed w the poor coverage.

I wrote to e salon to not send my color. They said I would get an email when shipped which I didn't. They said it would be delayed I get that. So I told them to cancel order because last 2 orders to brown and this one lighter but still brown I did not want gold. When I called to cancel they said it was shipped.I said I did not get an email. They said to send back but I have to pay shipping. I do better on my own although I had to bleach the to get last color out.It is 7 hours later still have not been notified it shipped . If it was shipped this morning it would of been scanned. I was asked to understand why it was late. But I guess customers do not get the exceptions the business is asking of me.

I requested darkest brown (my hair is nearly black) and the roots are orange-tinged. Not at all what was requested in spite of following instructions to a T. Also, the color really stained our shower walls, an experience I have NEVER had with other commercial coloring kits.

I liked the color much better. It did NOT cover the gray. After checking it throughout the process I added an additional 40 minutes Which means it took over an hour to process . This does not seem normal. The hairdresser does not take near this time. I have ordered again and am hoping you can change the formula.

Terrible, my hair is long and luxuriously naturally soft. But after hair coloring is dry and knotting up terribly. And if that's not bad enough the hair dye was supposed to be medium brown not completely dark almost black!

I had high hopes from reading the reviews for this site. I selected my color and another color in the same color wheel but slightly less bright to have a color made in between the two. I’m naturally blonde, virgin hair and wanted strawberry blonde. My shipment came in....stoked about it. I painted the color in as per the instructions making small sections (not my first color rodeo by any means), full coverage. The color was starting to turn a red wine/merlot color on my hair. I had already started so there wasn’t any back tracking from there, I had to finish. Final color was a light brown with a slight old penny copper tint in the light. Nothing even close to what I ordered! Not even in the same color wheel! I called the next morning and stated my dilemma to a colorist and she asked for me to upload pictures of the color so that they may fix the color, or that I could buy clarifying shampoo and gradually wash the color out. I was disappointed with this response. However, I uploaded pictures on 04/21, same day I spoke to colorist, and have yet to hear anything in response on how to fix my color.
Save yourself the money and go to a professional where you can verbally speak your concerns and have an immediate response. Extremely disappointed with this product and service. I had a private appointment and fixed my hair to a natural red/ginger color. I’m completely happy with those results, but now I have to have my hair gradually bleached to achieve the strawberry blonde I paid for on eSalon. I never should have purchased this product, nor have I even received an email asking if I would like a refund.
A week is too long to wait for a response for women who love their hair and have yet to receive any correspondence.

I'm not paying just to have my roots done! That's all I was sent and was told to go back to the salon for my highlights and low lights... I will, and I'll have my roots done there too! Thanks for a complete waste of my time and money! I won't even try your product now, your advertising is sketchy as to what the product can do and your customer service is the worst! Cancel my subscription! NOW!

Was expecting a light brown with a red tint. Just looks ugly red and did not lighten the brown at all. Hair is extremely dry and crunchy too

I was really excited to try an at home salon color experience. My custom color was supposed to be a light intense copper. Sadly it came out very dark and almost a soft brown auburn, which is more my natural color. I also reccomend several hair masks afterwards, as my curls feel rather damaged now, especially closer to my roots which is where they were once the healthiest. I was offered a new free kit, however I declined.

Wish it covered gray better

I told them I have resistant gray hair. It did a poor job of covering, where my hair naturally parts was especially bad. Cheaper store brands did a better job. Color was a little light. I know I'm a level 5, but don't know what brand my stylist uses. On the positive side, the kit comes with 2 pairs of gloves, application brush, stain remover and stain preventer.

la couleur n'est pas ce que j'escomptais ; je voulais des mèches dorées .De plus beaucoup trop de délai entre le moment de la commande et la livraison . Celle-ci a été passée le 31/03 , expédiée le 13/04 pour être livrée le 27/04. Ce n'est pas un problème suite aux fortes demandes dû au covid car une amie qui a commandé( grâce à mon conseil) , beaucoup de jours après moi a reçu sa commande hier comme moi.

Not customized, roots only

I was sent a kit for roots only. I need color for all of my hair as it is usually medium brown and I color it copper/red. Most of the red has faded. I was sent a "custom" medium brown that is apparently not red at all. I'm not willing to try and ruin my hair. I was never able to get in touch with a stylist and finding a way to return/get your money back is confusing and time consuming. No thanks.
Update: I was sent a form email response telling me to do a strand test, even when my feedback was that I do not have enough color and do not want brown in my color (the color wheel in the instructions provided shows WAY more brown than I wanted). My request for a refund has been ignored. My questions about why I was sent a color with so much brown when I asked for red and why the kit is roots only are still unanswered.
